Military Career : Molan has had an extended and active military career. Regimental postings include 1st Battalion, Rifle Platte Commander in Pacific Islands Regiment (Papua New Guinea); 9th Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment, as assistant; Rifle Company Second-in-Command and Rifle Company Commander within the 3rd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment; commandant of 6th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment;  Commander of the first Mechanized Brigade of the Army; And 1st Division Commander and his deployment Joint Force Headquarters.

Molan was the commander of the Australian Defense College, including the Australian soldiers Academy; Australian Command and Staff College; and therefore the Australian Center for Defense and Strategic Studies.

Political Career : within the 2016 federal election, Molan was the Senate candidate for the Liberal Party for brand spanking new South Wales.
