Hema Malini is an Indian politician, director, and actress. She is best known for her roles in Hindi films. Malini made her acting debut in the Tamil film Idhu Sathiyam in 1963. Malini made her film debut in Sapno Ka Saudagar (1968), and went on to star in a slew of Hindi films, frequently opposite Dharmendra, whom she married in 1980. Malini was initially marketed as the "Dream Girl," and she starred in the film of the same name in 1977. She is one of the most popular and successful leading actresses in mainstream Hindi cinema, having appeared in both comic and dramatic roles. Her films with Dharmendra and Rajesh Khanna were hugely successful.
She received eleven nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress during her career, and she won the award in 1973. Malini received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2000, and the Filmfare Special Award for 50 Years of Outstanding Contribution to Cinema in 2019. She is also the recipient of the Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian honor bestowed by the Government of India. Malini was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Sir Padampat Singhania University in 2012 for her contributions to Indian cinema. Malini was the National Film Development Corporation's chairperson. Malini was awarded the Sopori Academy of Music and Performing Arts (SaMaPa) Vitasta award by Bhajan Sopori in Delhi in 2006 for her contribution and service to Indian culture and dance. She was awarded the NTR National Award by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2013 for her contribution to Indian cinema.

Hema Malini Film Career
Hema Malini had a passion for dancing since she was a child. She began dancing lessons at a young age. She went to the Andhra Mahila Sabha in Chennai and then to the Delhi Tamil Education Association Sr. Sec. School. She excelled in school and particularly enjoyed history. Because she was more interested in dancing, she dropped her studies and made her debut as a dancer in a regional film in 1961.
Hema's mother, who was a producer, wished for her daughter to become an actress. Despite continuing to work as a dancer, she was unable to secure a role as an actress in South Indian films. She made her acting debut in the 1968 Hindi film "Sapno Ka Saudagar," starring Raj Kapoor. She was the newcomer that every director desired to cast in their film. So her career as an actress began.
She worked with every famous actor of her time during her more than two-decade career. She appeared in 15 films alongside Rajesh Khanna. She has collaborated with Dev Anand, Jeetendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, and numerous other well-known artists. Within four years of her debut, Hema Malini had established herself as one of the highest-paid actresses in the industry.
She has appeared in more than 155 films, including Tum Haseen Main Jawaan, Sholay, Lal Patthar, Andaaz, Naseeb, Gora Aur Kala, Dharmatma, Sanyasi, Satte Pe Satta, Dream Girl, Trishul, Suraag, Kranti, Andha Kanoon, Sitapur Ki Geeta, and others.
