Donald Trump’s 2025 Inauguration: All You Need to Know About His Historic Return to the White House

Donald Trump will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM EST (10:30 PM IST). He becomes only the second President in U.S. history to achieve such a comeback.

The historic ceremony will take place inside the United States Capitol Rotunda, marking Trump’s extraordinary return to the White House after losing re-election in 2020.

Why Indoors?

In a rare move, the ceremony will be held indoors instead of the traditional West Front of the Capitol due to the extreme cold in Washington, D.C. The temperature is expected to hover around -6°C at noon. The last time an inauguration was moved indoors was Ronald Reagan’s second term in 1985, also due to severe weather.

Who Will Attend?

The Rotunda can accommodate only around 600 guests, so most of the 200,000 ticketed attendees won’t be able to witness the ceremony in person. Key attendees include:

S. Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister
Han Zheng, China’s Vice President
Nigel Farage, leader of Britain’s Reform UK party
Giorgia Meloni, Italian Prime Minister
Jair Bolsonaro, former Brazilian President
To address the space issue, Trump announced that Capital One Arena, with a seating capacity of 20,000, will host a live viewing of the ceremony and the Presidential Parade. Trump has promised to join the crowd there after his swearing-in.

Security and Planning

The event is organized by the Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies (JCCIC) and secured by the U.S. Secret Service. Despite the challenges, the day will symbolize a significant moment in American history and politics.
