When Governor Gina Raimondo was appointed U.S. Secretary of Commerce in early 2021, McKee prepared to succeed her, forming a COVID-19 advisory board to address vaccine rollout challenges. He officially became governor on March 2, 2021, after Raimondo’s resignation.
