Gangasandra Siddappa Basavaraj is a politician from India. He was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019 from the Tumkur constituency. He began his political career with the Congress and is currently a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
In the Tumkur Lok Sabha Constituency, he defeated former Prime Minister Sri H. D. Deve Gowda by nearly 15,000 votes in the 2019 Indian general elections. He was elected to the Lok Sabha five times from Tumkur, first as a member of the Indian National Congress in 1984, then as a member of the BJP in 2009 and 2019.
In Tumkur, he finished third as a Congress candidate, trailing the BJP and JD-S candidates. Following his defeat, he joined the BJP. He was the BJP's losing candidate in 2014.
