Hema Malini is an Indian politician, director, and actress. She is best known for her roles in Hindi films. Malini made her acting debut in the Tamil film Idhu Sathiyam in 1963. Hema Malini had a passion for dancing since she was a child. She began dancing lessons at a young age. She went to the Andhra Mahila Sabha in Chennai and then to the Delhi Tamil Education Association Sr. Sec. School. She excelled in school and particularly enjoyed history. Because she was more interested in dancing, she dropped her studies and made her debut as a dancer in a regional film in 1961.

Hema's mother, who was a producer, wished for her daughter to become an actress. Despite continuing to work as a dancer, she was unable to secure a role as an actress in South Indian films.
