John Rose Career
Rose co-founded Transcender Corp. in 1992, an information technology certification company that was sold for $60 million in October 2000. Rose is the owner and president of Boson Software, LLC, which provides IT training. Rose served as Tennessee's commissioner of agriculture in 2002. He is the owner of a family farm in Temperance Hall, west of Cookeville.
Rose won the Republican primary for the 6th Congressional District on August 2, 2018, after Diane Black vacated the seat to run for governor. In the general election on November 6, he defeated Dawn Barlow with more than 70% of the vote. Rose hired former Representative Van Hilleary as his chief of staff after being elected.
Rose was one of 126 Republican House members to sign an amicus brief in support of Texas v. Pennsylvania, a lawsuit filed at the United States Supreme Court in December 2020 contesting the results of the 2020 presidential election, in which Joe Biden defeated incumbent Donald Trump.
