T. R. Baalu, also known as Thalikkottai Rasuthevar Baalu, is an Indian politician. Baalu received his B.Sc. from Madras University's New College, Chennai, and his diploma in drafting engineering drawings from Central Polytechnic, Chennai. He is currently the Lok Sabha MP for the Sriperumbudur constituency, having been elected five times from Chennai South and Sriperumbudur since 1996. He is the leader of the DMK party and is known for his political zeal, having been a member since 1957. He is now the DMK Treasurer, having been elected unopposed on September 3, 2020. From August 2018 to January 2020, he was the DMK Party's Principal Secretary.

Baalu was born on June 15, 1941, in Thalikottai, Thiruvarur District, Tamil Nadu, to Rajuthevar and Vadivambal. He is the property of Agamudayar. He graduated from New College in Chennai with a Diploma in Engineering from Central Polytechnic. Baalu's political career began at the age of sixteen, when he joined the DMK party. In 1982, he was appointed Secretary of the DMK's Chennai City District (Unsplit) unit.
